According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is actively developing a spin-off of “Game of Thrones” centered on the conquest of Westeros by Aegon Targaryen and his sisters, approximately 130 years before the events of “House of the Dragon”. The project has enlisted screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, known for his work on two installments of Matt Reeves’ “Batman” series.
HBO has yet to comment on the reports from the media. However, sources cited by Variety had previously hinted at the existence of a show focusing on Aegon the Conqueror in 2023.
Currently, the second season of “House of the Dragon” is in preparation for release, while the series “The Sea Snake” is slated to begin filming in 2024. There have been no updates on other spin-offs, including the rumored show centered around Jon Snow.
Previously, leaked footage featuring Naomi Watts from a canceled series set in the “Game of Thrones” universe had surfaced online, adding to the anticipation surrounding the franchise’s expanding narrative.
